Product Description
A set of three original 1920's Felix the Cat handkerchiefs each embroidered with Felix doing something different!
The hankies are made from soft finely woven cotton (one yellow, one light blue and the other purple) with black edging.
The embroidery was done by C.H. Brownlie who was a spinster. She was born at the turn of the century and was teased mercilessly by her brothers who called her "ugly" and that "no man would ever want her" (nice brothers, huh?). Because of this, she never married and ended up taking care of her parents all of her life and died a spinster. Although she never married, she was talented at embroidery and embroidered all her items. These hankies and other items I have had for sale in the past, were kept by her niece who recalled her aunt's sad life story.
The set is in good condition, the blue and purple hankies have yellow age spotting and yellow marks from age but not holes or tears.
Each handkerchief measures 10 1/2" x 10 1/2".
