This pair of shoes date to the end of the 1860's, about 1868. They foreshadow the styles of the 1870's with decorated vamps.
They are made out of bronzed kid (which was THE fashionable thing to wear) and black velvet with embroidery of flowers. They have a 1" heel, which was the fashionable length to wear. Any higher during this period and you
would be considered fast! They tie at the front with ribbons (not original) and are made on a straight last. They features very square toes. A size US 7/ UK 5.
