An original vintage (probably very early 1960's) full crinoline petticoat by Malco Modes (a company who has been making them for YEARS) made from red nylon netting with a nylon chiffon underlayer to stop the netting from snagging your stockings. The bottom net hem is bound in red taffeta and the hip yoke is made from a reddish orange nylon tricot (this probably was originally red but had mellowed over the years).
The waist had a new wide white elastic added some time during the mid 1980's (probably worn when Madonna brought crinolines briefly back into style in the early- mid 80's, gosh I remember that- I feel old!) to replace the original stretched out vintage elastic. It was done by a home seamstress so it's an ok job but not the best (see photo two). Still is functional and would not show underneath your vintage skirt!
Waist measures 26" but can stretch to 40", Hips measure 40" but can stretch to about 52". Length from waist to hem is 22".
