EDWARDIAN BODICE AND JACKET SET
A lovely c. 1911 set consisting of a jacket and bodice. These would have originally had a matching high waisted straight skirt but sadly this is now missing. The jacket and bodice are made from a light peachy pink silk faille.
The bodice has a high neck collar made from net lace which is supported by a celluloid stay. the top of the collar is trimmed with hanging clear glass seed beads. Lace trim is also found on the yoke and cuffs. It fastens up the back with snaps and ties at the waist. There is no inside boning and it is lined in white cotton. There are some small 1/4" moth holes scattered throughout the bodice as well as some small brown age spots of about the same age. There are rust marks at the bottom back waistline from the buckle of the jacket being stored on top of it all these years. No underarm staining and the bodice is plenty strong enough to be displayed but I cannot guarantee that it is strong enough to wear.
The jacket is plain with small buttons at the wrist cuffs (these have now discolored). There is ruching along the coat tails and the inside of the jacket is lined in white cotton. The jacket also has dirt/brown marks and small 1/4" moth holes going down the back right side of it (see photo 8 for an example). No underarm staining.
Bodice shoulders measure 17 1/2", Bust measures 42" (this was meant to be worn pouched however so a bust of up to 36"/38" would have worn this), Waist measures 32" (there are ties to make it smaller), Length from shoulder to waist hem is 15 1/2", Sleeve length is 19 1/2", Neck collar measures 11".
Jacket shoulders measure 17 1/2", Bust measures 42 1/2", waist measures 31", Sleeve length is 21", Jacket length down the back from shoulder to bottom hem is 33".
