C. 1930's. A pair of beautiful and feminine "tap panties" made from minty green silk with net lace trimmed leg cuffs that have green silk flowers handworked on it (I have two identical pairs of these panties available). They are machine sewn with some hand finishing and fasten at the left side with handworked button holes and shell buttons.
I was lucky enough to acquire one ladies complete underwear trousseau from the 1930's which was lovingly packed away in an old vintage suitcase all these years. The lady's daughter said that her mother used to buy her fabrics from France and have the underwear made up elsewhere, sometime by nuns! They are in very good condition with only some small light brown age spots present here and there which is typical of natural content fabrics (see photo three for an example of the age spotting). No rips or holes, they do not appear to have been worn very much if at all.
A medium/large size. Waist measures 33 1/4" (best fit a waist of 30"- 32 1/2"), Hips measure Hips measure approx. 50" (best fit a hip of 38"- 42" for ease of fit), Length from waist to hem is approx. 19".
