A hard to find 1950's petticoat or underskirt made from black taffeta and lined with heavily starched black linen. There is a band of taffeta encased braided "horsehair" running the width of the petticoat in the middle for extra bounce and stiffness. The petticoat fastens with a metal zipper and is full enough to be worn with a crinoline petticoat underneath or just on it's own. Look sot be a homemade garment by a amateur seamstress but it's still well made.
It's in very good condition with some light wear from use and age and a few small marks to the taffeta from use and age as well as a small 1/8" hole at the hip near the zipper but these are minor. The pull tab on the zipper is gone but you can still pull the zipper down by pinching it with your finger and thumb easily.
The waist measures 26", Hips are full up to 36", Length is 31", Hem measures 116".
